Haiku round-up: Week of January 1
It’s a new year and I’m back with the same goal: write a haiku every day. This really fell off in 2023, but I’m hoping to keep it going this time. So enjoy some fresh poems; this batch covers everything from the heartache of spotting roadkill on a New Year’s Day walk to the agony of growing out a pixie cut.
January 1
Paws placed so gently
if soft, rounded body breathed,
you could be sleeping
January 2
Drudgery peeks in,
like a waiting vampire, but
bitch ain’t invited
January 3
Creature of maybes,
may you settle on a path
toward fulfillment
January 4
You’ll find that old skills
have not completely withered,
are only waiting
January 5
Remember the joy
of falling asleep without
setting an alarm
January 6
Hair, always in eyes,
please just grow a little more,
make a ponytail
January 7
A Sunday of rest
I read a book, take a bath,
feel glad, grateful, warm
